55 isnt a good plan to get the survivor title with, especially in factions. This is mainly because nearly every mob in factions has enchantment removal, or some other counter to 55.

Well, I've already started a Mo/N. What other ideas would you suggest for this type character.

Also, once you obtain the title, it doesn't go away after you die, right? I know it does while your working for the experience but once it's yours, it's yours to stay, correct?

As a Mo/N I would go either pure heal, or pure protection, you will find it very easy to get into groups and if your being pounded by Melee or your hexed with degen, you can heal/protect yourself. Going 55 would mean you cannot contribute to the group for missions/quests.

As for keeping the title:

Solofarmers do not become survivors, IMO.

Otherwise, the best farming builds I've so far found in Factions is a variant of Racthohs FoW spider-farming warrior, and a Touch Ranger. Since you've already got a monk and want to farm with it, you could try the Protective Spirit + Spirit Bond solo-monk build (see the '605 build' thread in the monk forum), it's a lot more robust than the 55 build.

As others have stated, in Factions, enchants have all the staying-power of a snowball in hell.

Default Survivor Title Issues

I've gotten a few titles and I hope to get them all if that will ever be possible for me. So I decided to go for the Survivor title next.

I found a repeatable quest outside of Lutgardis Conservatory in Factions that a lot of people seem to be interested in doing... a lot... The one from Scoutmaster Arne called 'Securing Echovald Forest'. It's one of the easiest for me to do.

Now since I don't remember how much EXP I had when I started doing this I couldn't properly track how close I was getting to activating the title. But then I realised that I could track it by how much Amber I have gained. Since it is the only thing I've done in the past week that even gives faction.

Now if it takes 140,600exp to activate the first level of Survivor (thats what all the elite fansites say) then I should've had it a long time ago. But I don't for some reason.

My reasoning is that two days ago I gained 18 amber, and yesterday another 24, plus today another 8. That equals 50 amber, which in turn is 50,000 Kurzick Faction all obtained from that one quest. If you divide that 50,000 by the 400 faction reward you get every time you finish the quest, it will equal 125. The number of times I've thus far completed the quest without dying.

If you take the minimum Survivor title requirement, 140,600exp and divide that by 2,000exp (the amount of exp you get each time you finish that quest), you will get 70.3. So I would need to finish that quest 70.3 (or 71) to activate the minimum Survivor.

But as we've already seen I've done that quest -many- more times then that. And no, I have not died once, not once! If I had died I would know because then I'd have to wait for a ressurect.

Since GW Support always answers all of my technical issues with 'post on a fansite', I figured I'd do it here since this is my favourite of all the sites. I've also checked the GW Wiki and found something that totally confused me, it says

Quote:
...you must obtain the experience required and the command /deaths must return a zero.
I don't believe getting the /deaths command reset to 0 is even possible?!? I've never heard of it at least.

So, now I'm totally confused and at a loss. If anyone knows anything thats helpful I'd appreciate it. Because thus far I've gained 250,000exp without a death, and the title refuses to activate.

You can only achieve the Survivor title with a /deaths return of 0. This means none of your previous characters that you had leveled or played are eligible (if they have died at all, as most have).

I'm not sure if that was what you were asking, but if so there's your answer. The survivor title is only reachable by new characters created and leveled with no deaths whatsoever.

Even though I can now farm 1 million XP with my monk without a single death, I am not eligible for the survivor title as I had died some 1300 times throughout playing Prophecies and Factions.

Well thats no fun :/

I seriously hope its altered in the future so that you may obtain it regardless of how many past deaths you've had. Just so long as you meet the reguire exp without a death. Sort of like charging, it would reset once you died but as long as you lived it would keep building up. From everything I have read thus far thats how I believed it to be, until I saw GW Wiki....

it's far easier to gain 1,337,000 or whatever lvl 3 is with a max lvl char than it is to achieve that level to start with :\ idk I think the title is fine as is. It really just says that you farmed a ton or otherwise did something to get the title without dying.

I made this mistake too thinking all I had to do was "survive", Ive started a new Mesmer anyway, and am currently working on it, so far Im lvl14, its taking a little longer in Tyria, but I love playing the prohecies campaign. Im screenshotting as I go along, kinda like a diary , best part is, that I get to work on Tyrian Explorers title again

My first survivor is now in Bloodstain Fen. I have learned that when you die, failing a mission, doesn't count to your death. It is fun playing for survivor title from lvl 1. You'll really feel with your character, and the exitement of a near-death experience.
If one could go for the title at any moment in the game, no matter how much you died, the title would be worthless.

It would be kind of pointless being a survivor if you've already died, kind of blows the point.

Default question about the survivor title

ok so i know that you need to get 140k xp to unlock the survivor(1) title but what i dont get is, say if i die with the survivor title, can i still get the Indomitable Survivor and then Legendary Survivor or must i have gained that much xp without dieing a single time? also which are the 2 quests that give you the 15 extra attribute points?

once you die, you cannot progress further toward any survivor titles you have not yet earned... but you keep the ones you earned

The common misconception is that a Survivor title can be attained by any streak of a certain amount of XP. The truth is that you must start from zero and proceed without death to the 3 milestones.

Question Questions about the survivor Title.

Does dieing in a pvp match, such as a guild battle, or arena battle, affect if you recieve the title of Survivor at lvl 20 or not?

Yes, all deaths will remove any chance for further advancement with the survivor title. If you already earned it you won't lose it however. If a mission critical NPC dies it's not counted as a death.

I think this is the most commonly asked question since I started lurking these forums, search, check the FAQ or check guildwiki, that'll answer most of your questions.

Almost everything you need to know about anything is on Guildwiki.

I would look there, next time, to save frowns from the Gods, and to save the Guru valuable bytes of space.
